CAR TRANSPONDER KEYS
Most cars these days have anti-theft transponder chips in the head of the key. This is great for protecting against theft but more often than not, you become the victim with the financial cost when you lose your keys or need a spare key cut.
It’s advisable to speak to a locksmith first before visiting your nearest car or bike dealer. An automotive locksmith can usually provide an aftermarket key at a lower cost. SafeZone Locksmiths can help you with lost keys or key replacement with many types of cars.
MOTORCYCLE TRANSPONDER KEYS
Most motorcycle transponder keys can be cut and programmed. If you have only a black key or a red key, don’t worry, we can still provide you with additional keys for your bike.
There are very few locksmiths in Australia who are able to provide new transponder keys for your bike if all keys are lost. If you have lost your keys then give us a call to discuss your options. We can point you in the right direction.
CAR IGNITION PROBLEMS
Ignition problems are normally caused by wear of the key and ignition wafers. If you start having problems with the key turning, it’s time to have it repaired before the ignition stops turning altogether. An ignition that is still turning is much easier and cheaper to repair than an ignition that has totally seized.
In some cases a lubricant such as WD40 may enable the key to turn again but is usually a short-term fix as the initial damage has already occurred. Broken keys in ignitions and doors can in most cases be removed without removing the lock. In rare cases the lock will need to be removed and dismantled to enable the removal of the broken key.
